This experience deepened my interest in independent magazines, which became the focus of my internship report. The design is inspired by the studio’s Japanese name and my love for minimalism and brutalist aesthetics. I titled the report HET MAG, a Dutch phrase meaning “it’s allowed.” These were the words my supervisor a AKIMOTO often used to encourage me to break traditional design rules—experimenting with overlaps, margins, and white space to create something unique yet visually appealing. This lesson has stayed with me and continues to influence my work. experience. The agency still carries the name of its founder, David Ogilvy, a Manhattan advertising legend from the Art Deco era. Inspired by this heritage, I incorporated subtle retro American influences into the design. Additionally, I integrated Ogilvy’s signature red, a color prominently featured in the agency’s branding and interior design, to create a visual connection to its identity. To elevate the presentation, I housed the report in a custom-made, high-gloss red lacquered box. The challenge was to split the website into two parts: one focusing on science and technology, and the other on visual effects.I solved this by creating a dynamic header with a hover-over animation, where the section you hover over expands and starts playing a promo video, allowing users to intuitively choose their path. The dark blue-toned background highlights Nymus' high-end 3D animations, while subtle blue-glow accents and smooth hover animations give the site a modern and futuristic feel. I aimed for a clean, feminine, and sophisticated aesthetic, combining dark tones with rose-chrome accents. To create contrast and balance, I introduced a soft light pink as a secondary color, which works beautifully against the dark blue and deep green tones used throughout the design. I incorporated dark green leaf patterns as background textures and fresh, bright photography, often showing plant shadows on light backgrounds. Their old website, dating back to the early 2000s, featured outdated design elements, including a clunky animated logo with spinning spheres. The CEO was particularly attached to this old logo, so as a compromise, I refreshed the design by modernizing the logo, keeping the spinning spheres as a metaphor for finding the right cellular combination, but giving it a sleeker, more contemporary look. I revamped both the website and branding, opting for a clean, tech-inspired aesthetic with bold shapes and colors. The use of blue represents the scientific and technological side of the company, while the soft rose hue symbolizes the human side of Zobio's mission; helping people. The challenge was to create a visually appealing and accessible design, while maintaining a calm and respectful aesthetic due to the sensitive nature of the subject. I incorporated Braille elements and used a unique font that blends standard typography with Braille dots, allowing both sighted and visually impaired readers to access the content. Additionally, the images were printed on tactile paper, making them recognizable through touch. As the centerpiece of the branding, I created an iconic character named Wollfie—a wolf-like figure representing nightlife and the untamed energy of a music venue. The imagery of a howling wolf is often associated with attraction, as seen in classic cartoons where a wolf howls at the sight of a beautiful woman. I’ve always been deeply fascinated by its culture, yet I haven’t had the opportunity to travel there. To capture the two cultural sides of Japan that intrigue me, I designed and built a Torii gate, a traditional element of the Japanese Shinto religion.&nbsp; Suspended within the gate are two banners that together form the red sun of the Japanese flag. The left banner represents Japan’s rich historical and traditional heritage, while the right banner reflects its modern, cutting-edge culture.
